Shayan Rakhit, MD

Dr. Shayan Rakhit is a Resident in General Surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Molecular Biology with a Certificate in Global Health and Health Policy from Princeton University. Prior to medical school, he worked as senior administrative staff at a federally-qualified health center in Long Branch, New Jersey. He completed his Doctor of Medicine at Vanderbilt University, at which time he first began working with the CIBS Center. He stayed at Vanderbilt for his General Surgery Residency and plans a career in trauma, acute care surgery, and surgical critical care afterwards. Shayan is interested in the long-term trajectories of patients after critical illness, with a particular focus on patients’ whole experiences, including their social and economic health in addition to their physical and mental health.
